Anniston Museum’s Summer “Kid’s Nights” Draw to a Close
Anniston, AL– Anniston Museum presents the final “Kid’s Night at the Museum” for the Summer, Thursday, August 5, from 5:30-9pm (registration deadline, July 22). “Kid’s Night at the Museum: Live Animal Experience” is a fun, educational, kids-only evening at the Museum specially designed for children ages 7-12. It’s an evening of adventure and exploration—no parents allowed! A “wildly” popular program, one of the biggest highlights has been the “Flashlight Tour.” This unique tour of the Museum’s seven permanent Exhibit Halls takes place in the dark, with the exhibits lit only by the wavering beams of dozens of flashlights held by kids and staff members. Touring the Museum’s darkened halls is not only thrilling, it allows kids to focus on the exhibits in a different way. Sometimes visitors miss some of the smaller details in a hall, as their senses are overwhelmed by the fullness, the great abundance of collections objects on display. But under the beam of a flashlight, children can zero in on each individual animal, tree and stone, isolating and examining things in a way not possible under full lighting. Following the flashlight tour, kids will have the chance to see a live animal program, visit “behind-the-scenes” in parts of the Museum that are usually off-limits, and also have a souvenir photo made of themselves holding a live animal. A kid-friendly dinner is included in the cost. Other activities will vary, and may include scavenger hunts, crafts, temporary tattoos, etc.
Deadline for registration is July 22: Cost is $25 child/$10 sibling; $20/member child/$10sibling. Call 256-237-6766 ext 114 or 116 or email gmorey@annistonmuseum.org to register your child. Your payment confirms registration. No walk-ins, please.
Funding for a portion of this programming is supported by Legacy, Inc.
